Animals & Still Lifes
Drawing animals isn't quite the same as human portraits, but it's still a satisfying challenge. I also enjoy working with still lifes so long as they're interesting - unusual angles, strange perspectives, or just beautiful things in the world.
Gargoyle
Confession: this was an art class project, exploring economy of line. But I'm pretty proud of it! Based on a picture I took while on a tour of Europe in 2006. Ink.
Rose Violin
This was inspired by a photograph taken by my sister in law. Finished size is about 7 inches tall. 2013. Graphite, Prismacolor, Acrylic, Ink.
Giraffe Kiss
Inspired by a well-known picture and drawn freehand in 2012 as a Christmas gift for a friend's mother. 8 inches tall. Graphite.
